Amy Carr

Director of Admissions

I grew up in Metro-Detroit before moving to Chicago to attend Moody Bible Institute, which is where I met my husband Jonathan. Jon and I knew from the time we started dating that he needed a master’s in counseling to pursue his goal of being a licensed counselor and we also knew we wanted to end up near some mountains. In July 2015, both of those dreams were realized when we packed up everything we owned and moved to Denver for Jon to pursue his MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary. In the fall I was offered a job as an admissions counselor at Denver Seminary and it’s been a tremendous privilege to talk with prospective students about Denver Seminary while seeing firsthand how this school is preparing Jonathan to be an amazing counselor.

As we discussed potential grad schools, the culture and opportunities of the place we chose was an important consideration for us. We love the outdoors and having the mountains at our doorstep invites us to explore creation every chance we get, including rock climbing, hiking, camping, and snowshoeing. It also provides Jon with the future opportunity to do Outdoor Therapy, a huge passion of his. But we also still love big cities and living on the Front Range has given us an urban context where we can engage different cultures, meet lots of new people, and participate in a variety of ministries. When I’m not working, I enjoy trying new restaurants, going to flea markets, cooking, or hanging out in one of the many coffee shops around the city.

I’d love to talk with you more about whether you would fit at Denver Seminary and help you navigate the journey of becoming a student. Let’s connect!
