…by helping people ages 6th grade through adult engage in groups (Biblical community) that grow together and care for each other.
Rockland’s Discipleship Pastor will be a mature Christian Pastor who clearly displays a love for the Lord Jesus Christ, a call to pastoral ministry, a track record of effective service in the church, and is a Christ centered, biblically based person who is healthy and growing spiritually.
The Discipleship Pastor must give sincere assent to the Rockland statement of faith without reservation.
He/she must have a passion for intergenerational ministry and Christian life lived out in connectional groups for the purpose of growing in Christ and caring for one another with the love of Christ. We are seeking a relational individual who is outgoing, a builder of people and ministry, and has a high level of personal integrity.
The Discipleship Pastor should have experience and passion for creating discipleship systems. Most of all he / she should model Jesus Christ in their daily life with a winsome, life giving faith. We prefer candidates with 5+ years of full time ministry experience with a seminary degree who are ordained or eligible for ordination.
Prior supervisory experience is desired.
Rockland’s core values are worship, connect, serve, and give. The primary responsibility of the Discipleship Pastor is to encourage / promote / facilitate spiritual growth and relational connectedness within the congregation at Rockland, from 6th grade up through the elderly. He / she will endeavor to lead in development of a discipleship culture and system where everyone may be connected and growing in Christ while keeping our church family an open circle to welcome those in our community into our midst.

OUTCOMES TO BE ACHIEVED:
•Development of a clear and effective discipleship strategy which has the genuine support of supervisor, Discipleship Team, Student Ministry team, and a growing percentage of the Rockland congregation.
•Clear testimonies from congregation how involvement in Rockland discipleship is transforming their lives and placing them in meaningful connection in Christian community.
•A growing percentage of Rockland congregants involved in healthy, biblical community.
•Intergenerational fellowship which is meaningful to young and old.
•A growing reputation of loving people and competence as a Discipleship Pastor per development of a track record of relational and ministry value add to Rockland Church.
•Connection of guest / guest families into the fellowship of Rockland.
•Annual progress toward agreed upon ministry goals.
•To be a respected, beloved pastoral representative of Christ in Rockland and the surrounding community.
WORK TO BE DONE:
•Oversight of Student Ministry Discipleship:
*Oversee SM director(s) and development of their ministry.
*Work with SM director(s) to structure discipleship for effectiveness following the Sticky Faith philosophy of developing life long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
*Oversee SM director(s) to recruit, train, shepherd volunteers to lead table discussion / small groups for connection and discipleship.
•Oversight of Adult Discipleship:
*Create, lead, and sustain discipleship at Rockland for adults.
*Develop a sustainable model congruent with “connect” value in biblical community so that people in grows will care for one another and grow in Christ together.
*Recruit, equip, and shepherd group leaders and apprentices.
*Develop system for creation of new groups in Rockland.
*Structure discipleship at Rockland so guests can easily be involved.
*Oversee growth of adult discipleship options including Sunday morning classes, bible studies, weekday opportunities, and special groups.
*Coordinate with Lead Pastor development and leadership of assimilation process including new member class.
*Development of a ministry, which includes personal involvement, that reaches out to members / regular attendees who are becoming inconsistent in their participation in the life of Rockland.
*Development of guest follow-up / assimilation process / ministry.
Other Pastoral Responsibilities:
•Assist with Sunday worship services.
•Serve as part of the pastoral care team.
•Participate in staff meetings.
•Attend Student Ministry and Discipleship Ministry Team leadership meetings.
•Other regular pastoral duties as needed. (eg weddings, funerals, emergencies…)
•Discipleship Pastor is a key ministry leader in Rockland.
