Position Summary: The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for sorting mail, processing and depositing daily contributions received, and other administrative processes. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is also responsible for communicating with the organization’s donors and needs to have excellent verbal and written skills.

Position Responsibilities:
• Record, deposit, and balance donor contributions on a daily basis
• Reconcile donor commitment records against monthly contribution aging reports and donor contributions
• Update donor information (name, address, and other changes) in accounting software
• Identify and return checks that cannot be processed by the organization
• Respond accurately to donor and International Worker phone inquiries, with attention to donor authentication and confidentiality
• Open mail delivered to the Finance Receivables Office; accurately identify and sort donor checks and other mail into defined categories (including commitments)
• Identify and route mail that should go to other departments
• Process returned donor mail, using available sources to attempt to locate a current address, and update donor accounts as appropriate
• Prepare and file receivable backup documentation, including moving old documentation to long-term storage when appropriate
• Dispose of backup receivable documentation based on defined schedules and document retention policies
• Have a basic understanding of each of the duties of each employee in the Finance Office
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Background in accounting and data entry helpful
• Able to use a computer, basic office equipment, and basic office software, such as email
• Flexible and adaptable to change, unexpected demands, and interruptions
• Maintain a pleasant and helpful phone presence, even when under pressure
• Able to compose accurate, complete, and polite emails in response to inquiries and other business needs
• Able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and maintain a highly productive work environment
• High attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed

Education or Formal Training: High school diploma, or equivalent; Background in accounting and data entry preferred
