Theology and Practice of Worship

Study the Depths of Worship with Dr. Glenn Packiam

There’s more to worship than “praise and celebration.” So much more. What about lament, confession, contemplation, consecration, communion, silence and prayer and liturgy in their various forms?

This fall Denver Seminary is offering a class for those who already have a master’s degree but want to deepen and broaden their understanding of worship.

Theology and Practice of Worship: Personal and Corporate.

This class focuses on what it means to worship, both individually and as a group or congregation. It draws from biblical theology, history, philosophy, and sociology to equip students to bring their whole selves into worship of the Almighty. This will involve the whole biblical range of practices and postures, content and cultures, the senses and the spirit of personal and corporate worship. This class will prepare you to guide times of well-rounded worship for yourself, for a group you’re part of, or for your congregation.

The class is taught by pastor, author, and songwriter Dr. Glenn Packiam. Glenn is associate senior pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs and the lead pastor of New Life Downtown. He is the author of Discover the Mystery of Faith (David C. Cook, 2013), and one of the founding leaders of the Desperation Band and a songwriter with Integrity Music. He has written or co-written over 65 worship songs, including Your Name and My Savior Lives. He earned a Doctorate in Theology and Ministry from Durham University in the UK. He is an ordained priest with the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA).

The class begins with the reading assignments in October, and culminates with a one-week intensive seminar on the Littleton campus January 6-10, 2020.

The class can be taken for credit toward a Doctor of Ministry degree or for personal enrichment. A limited number of auditors will be admitted.
