General Statement of Duties

Instructional Designer Role – 50%

Develops effective online courses of the Korean Global Campus in collaboration with the Korean Global Campus (KGC) professors. Assists faculty with the technical and administrative aspects of course production. Assists KGC students with technical support and in a concierge role, being a central point of contact and bridge to the various departments that comprise student support.

Media Specialist Role – 50%

Creates the media needed to develop and produce online courses and to support Korean Global Campus’s marketing and communications efforts. This position also manages and organizes the audio-visual materials within the Korean Global Campus.

Essential Functions

  • Instructional Design/Course Development: Guides KGC faculty course designers through the instructional design process to create, revise, and update online KGC courses that are characterized by learner-centered instruction, active learning, and the principles of adult education.
  • Assists faculty in the technical and administrative aspects of course design. Assists with directing the production of original course content. Works under the direction of the Directors of KGC and ET to schedule and assist with managing the logistics of KGC course development.
  • Instructional Support for KGC Courses: Collaborates with the ET Team and KGC instructors to prepare courses for the upcoming semester. Provides course-specific technical and instructional support.
  • KGC Faculty Development: Collaborates with ET Team to develop resources, protocols, and training modules to train faculty in the principles of adult education, learner-centered teaching, and effective facilitation practices for the online environments. Conducts training in both formal settings and during informal opportunities.
  • Works with the Educational Technology Team to develop, update, and implement protocols impacting instructional design processes, course assessment, learning technologies, and department workflows.
  • Reviews KGC syllabi and other curricular materials as needed.
  • Syllabi/Site Alignment: conducts processes to align course syllabi and course Moodle sites.
  • Produces all lecture videos for KGC Courses: Schedule, record, and produce quality video lectures in Korean.
  • Online Student Support: Oversees Korean Student Success Course and production of all necessary technical tutorials in Korean. Provides KGC students with technical support. This position is partially remote and will require flexible work hours due to time-zones and the need for weekend support.
  • Produces KGC video and graphic content for web, email, social media, and other uses on an as needed basis, by collaborating with Directors of Marketing and Communications.
  • Assists with managing, organizing, and maintaining KGC AV materials, webinars, and online events.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience to support the training of faculty.
  • 2 years’ work experience in higher education preferred.
  • 2 years’ work experience in Instructional Design field preferred.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Korean and English Speaker (bilingual)
  • Working knowledge of adult education principles and blended course design.
  • Detail-oriented, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Aptitude for technical writing and technical documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and online communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and approach interruptions as opportunities.
  • Learning Management System skills required; Moodle experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, HTML, media software, and digital video. 
  • Graphic design skills preferred.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climbing stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
