Faculty Statement on Racism

Faculty Statement on Racism

Recent tragedies of racial violence are reflective of ongoing realities for communities of color. We, members of the Denver Seminary faculty, join those who mourn. We grieve the killings of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, David Dorn, George Floyd, and others who died by violence rooted in pervasive racism. We stand against racism and confess complicity in the systemic racism that has devalued our brothers and sisters of Black, Hispanic, Native American, Middle-eastern and Asian communities. We commit ourselves anew to teaching, preaching, and ministering a gospel of hope that promotes justice and freedom from fear. We aspire to model a life of racial reconciliation in our seminary community. We do so because we are called and empowered by the Lord Jesus, the great Healer who has by his death and resurrection achieved a reconciliation which is to be proclaimed in word and deed to all people.
