GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB FUNCTION:

Denver Counseling Center (DCC) is a well established community counseling center that offers counseling services to the Denver community. It is also a training venue for students under the supervision of licensed professional counselors and Denver Seminary faculty.

The Assistant Director of Clinical Training (Counseling Division) will assist in oversight of the clinical training sequences at both the Master’s and PhD level. This individual will assist in the management of  Denver Counseling Center, while also serving as a clinical supervisor when needed and providing administrative support for both Masters and PhD level students.

The position of Assistant Director of Clinical Training supports the Clincial Training Director in various clinical training duties including the management of the online recording keeping platform,  student support through practicum and internship, and a focus on supporting PhD students in the elements of the clinical training sequence.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Denver Counseling Center

  1. Manage clerical and administrative tasks related to Practicum and Internship at the master’s level including managing the Moodle sites and assisting with practicum orientation.
  2. Manage the recordkeeping component of the clinical training sequence through Supervision Assist.
  3. The Assistant Director of Clinical Training will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing policy and procedure regarding Denver Counseling Center within the Clinical Training sequence at both Master’s and PhD levels under the authority of the Clinical Training Director.
  4. Collaborate with Counseling Division faculty and staff (including Assistant Director, PhD Program and Program Chairs) to best serve student and program needs at both the master’s and PhD level.
  5. Serve as on-site clinical supervision support in the DCC and maintain a supervision load of no more than five individual practicum students.

Master’s Internship (school and clinical)

  1. Carry out site visits to current and potential new internship sites for MA internship placements
  2. Assist students in arranging internship placement and serve as a liaison between Denver Seminary and internship sites in the onboarding stage. Research and establish new internship opportunities for students in community counseling locations.
  3. Interview each eligible student prior to their enrollment in internship to assess for readiness and equip students for their internship field experience.

 

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Master’s degree in counseling or related field required for accreditation purposes
  • Registered with the state database and licensed (LPC).
  • At least five years’ experience in a professional office environment with increasing
  • Experience in a psychology or health-related field and experience in an academic setting preferred.

 

Preferred:

  • Theological training is an asset.
  • Experience in clinic management and academic field education programs are an asset.

  • Maintains a professional demeanor when working with colleagues, students and the public. Understands the importance of confidentiality and works to preserve confidentiality as required.
  • Experienced manager of people with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to problem solve and be a self-starter who can initiate processes, programs, organization, record maintenance, and creating efficient processes.

OUTCOMES: 

  • A robust clinical training sequence will be maintained for the Masters program by supporting students, site supervisors, and faculty supervisors with administrative components of practicum and internship.
  • Supervision Assist processes will run smoothly and effectively.
  • Students will be well-supported through clinical supervision during their practicum experience at DCC.
  • Thorough and complete policies will have been developed that direct vetting of potential placement sites and processes for managing the PhD clinical training sequence.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
