Assistant Director of the Doctor of Ministry Korean Studies Program
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for DMin Korean Studies program administration, thesis coordination, recruitment and admissions, interacting with related departments, and supporting Director of the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) and Director of Korean Studies Program (KSP).
- Collaborate on DMin KSP curriculum development.
- Supervise DMin KSP work study.
- Attend and participate in the DMin Committee meetings.
- In consultation with KSP Director, build class schedules, issue contracts for teaching faculty, and complete the DMin KSP Course Schedule for each academic year.
- Obtain and review all DMin KSP course syllabi for compliance with program requirements.
- Relate Student Learning Objectives to course content, track assessment tools and results.
- Coordinate facility scheduling for KSP classes and events.
- In consultation with KSP Director, design and manage the DMin KSP experience to encourage student success and retention (orientation, hospitality, and other events.)
- Maintain DMin KSP records for current students, including grades and leave of absence, withdrawal, and course extension requests.
- Create and update annual guidance materials in Korean as needed (Academic Catalog, DMin Thesis Manual, and DMin KSP orientation materials).
- Assist in teaching.
- Guide DMin KSP students through the steps of the thesis phase of the program.
- Assist DMin KSP students in locating and securing thesis committee members and obtaining approvals from DMin Director.
- Provide guidance to thesis committees and maintain ongoing communications as needed.
- Direct DMin KSP students through final oral defense, including:
- Approve the thesis for oral defense.
- Schedule and orient students to the oral defense process.
- Assign thesis to a final proofreader (includes ongoing guidance and clarification for proofreader).
- Verify correct registration and tuition/fees for final semester.
- Moderate the oral defense.
- Review final thesis to verify correct formatting before submission to the Seminary library.
- Submit final thesis and forms to Seminary library.
Recruitment and Admissions
- In consultation with the KSP Director, develop and implement recruitment strategies.
- Point-of-contact for prospective DMin KSP students by email, phone, and walk-in inquirers.
- Evaluate inquirer/applicant transcripts for MDiv equivalency.
- Accumulate and review DMin KSP application materials on SLATE and transfer completed applicant files to Data Enrollment Specialist (DES) for matriculation to Registrar’s files.
- A PhD or appropriate doctoral level degree from an accredited institution
- Fully bilingual in Korean and English
- Experience in higher education administration
- Management and business interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong writing and proofreading skills in Korean
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form in Korean and English
- Able to relate well to diverse students and audiences
- Team player
- Able to multitask and manage time
- Experience in conflict management
- Knowledge of office protocol and basic administrative procedures
- Ability to work in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments.
- Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith.
- A genuine heart-felt love for pastors and para-church leaders
- A demonstrated competency in communication at both the inter-personal and corporate levels
- The ability to recruit and mentor DMin KSP students as well as lead and oversee the larger DMin KSP
- Demonstrated ability to grow an organization or program

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
