Assistant Director of Worship Arts
Position Title: Assistant Director of Worship Arts, ADWA (20 hours per week)
Accountability: Director of Worship Arts, DWA
Position Summary: The ADWA serves God and the church as a regular Worship Leader in two worship venues. The ADWA will also team with the DWA as a talent developer and implementer, and provide administrative support in the areas of scheduling, license reporting and ministry development. The ADWA should understand and support the values, mission and vision of Faith Lutheran Church. The DWA serves as a supervisor and resource in areas of encouragement, spiritual growth, professional development and leadership.
Primary Responsibilities: The ADWA must be able to perform the following duties:
Collaborate with Pastors and DWA in the planning and preparation of weekly Saturday and Sunday worship services, as well as seasonal services as needed.
Schedule musicians and technicians to execute a high-quality, consistent worship experience.
Design weekly ProPresenter presentations for contemporary worship.
Collaborate with Director of Youth for Wednesday night services once per month during the school year (about 7 times.)
Schedule youth musicians and technicians and lead a youth rehearsal right before worship.
Collaborate with Celebration Lutheran School (CLS) staff on weekly chapel services and special events.
Select songs and assist CLS staff with slides and A/V (usually done by students and teachers.)
Share Worship Leader roles for chapel with DWA (Pastors and DCE’s provide the message.)
Assist CLS Music Director with annual Christmas service and spring Musical (A/V support.)
Lead contemporary worship services at both the Faith Ministry Center (FMC) and Celebration Ministry Center (CMC.)
Proficient at leading worship from the guitar or keyboard and able to perform as lead vocalist.
Monitor the worship needs of the congregation and work with staff to maximize participation and engagement.
Conduct efficient rehearsals with the worship band (meet early with singers if needed.)
Display strong leadership qualities in the form of timeliness, preparation, and professionalism.
Ability to read music and teach musical concepts to both instrumentalists and vocalists.
Proficient with audio/video technology that is needed for both Faith and CLS.
Provide spiritual encouragement and growth to volunteers.
Assist DWA in developing and growing the Worship Arts Ministry.
Recruit, teach and mentor new musicians and technicians of all ages.
Team with DWA in further expansion of the Worship Arts to include dance, drama and art.
Attend workshops, conferences or retreats to further personal growth and development as needed.
Assist DWA in the administrative duties for the Worship Arts Ministry.
Oversee and maintain Planning Center Online with personnel data, music scores and recordings necessary for preparing volunteers for worship.
Report CCLI song usage and CCLI rehearsal usage for all contemporary worship services.
Identify and communicate annual budgetary requirements to DWA.
Attend meetings as needed.
Other duties as needed to maintain a cohesive and evolving Worship Arts ministry.
Interaction: The ADWA requires interface and interaction with the following groups:
Members of the Administrative Staff.
Current and future volunteers serving in the Worship Arts Ministry.
Worshipers from both FMC and CMC.
CLS staff and students.
Fox Valley worship community (for both ministry encouragement and potential subs).
Qualifications: ADWA skills needed to effectively serve in ministry are typically acquired through training and experience. Therefore, he/she will most likely have acquired:
Three or more years of experience in leading non-traditional worship services.
Training in a Christian University or Christian church.
Experience in a team environment that requires relational, organizational and communication skills.
Experience with audio/visual equipment and a variety of software programs used for worship.
Personal Qualifications: The ADWA must strive to practice or obtain the following:
1. The ADWA shall be committed, first and foremost, to a personal, growing relationship with our Savior. He/she shall be devoted to
Bible study, worship, prayer and a personal devotional life.
2. The ADWA shall be a model of discipleship for all members, guests and friends of Faith Lutheran Church. This does not mean being
perfect, but understanding one’s position before the Lord, living under the cross of Christ, and demonstrating a heart-felt desire to
please the Lord in words and actions.
3. The ADWA shall be a servant leader — not interested in self-promotion, but driven by a Christ-like desire to make others better —
positioning himself/herself as a servant to those whom he/she leads.
4. The ADWA shall possess a humble spirit, demonstrating a genuine concern for all people (regardless of age, race, background, or
economics), a nonjudgmental heart, an appreciation for the unique gifts and talents of every member of the Body of Christ. He/she
shall also be willing to examine himself/herself in light of correction or suggestions and maintain a confident but teachable heart.
5. It is expected that the ADWA will become a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
