Assistant Pastor of Family Discipleship

Christ Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church
Posted: 08/23/2022
Salary/Range: 55-75,000
Leoti, KS

Description:  The Assistant Pastor of Family Discipleship (APFD) will focus on youth and family ministry, helping to set the vision and strategy for an overall ministry approach (for children and families).

The APFD will partner with and be a resource for parents as they are the primary means of nurturing and caring for the spiritual condition of their children.

The APFD will work alongside the Session and specifically the Senior Pastor, the Elder of Education, Sunday School Teachers, and the Director of GAP Student Ministries to create and implement a strategy that nurtures our youngest members through the various transitional stages of infancy to childhood to teen to graduate so that our children’s and student ministries are covenantal, integrated, consistent, and a support for parents.

The APFD’s main emphases will be in ministering to parents and their children (birth -12th grade) through discipleship, teaching, small groups, outreach events, youth trips, and other activities. This will involve developing personal relationships with the children and families at Christ Covenant (especially outside of Sunday mornings) as well as recruiting, shepherding, and delegating to dedicated volunteer leaders who will carry a significant load of ministry responsibilities.

The APFD will also participate in teaching and regular preaching at Christ Covenant. Likewise, the APFD will help assist the Senior pastor in pastoral responsibilities that might include weddings, funerals, baptisms, the Lord’s Supper, visitations, and various church administrative work. The APFD will partner and work closely with the Senior Pastor in ministry, serving under his vision and leadership.

Christ Covenant is looking for a pastor with discerned gifting and passion in leading and discipling children and nurturing strong families. We are seeking an individual who can work well with a team, but also is a self-starter in carrying out the roles and responsibilities delegated to their position. This individual must be EPC ordained or ordainable (we will consider those still finishing their seminary degrees). We look forward to meeting with candidates who feel they have the experience, education, organizational skills, and heart for young people and their families required to help lead us in this effort.
