The Position:

Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer

We are seeking a long-term Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer who is looking to grow in our small yet established company as a partner in carrying out the vision and values of Columbine Hills Construction. This individual should be ready and willing to learn, listen, and humbly earn the respect of the field crews as they work side by side towards a common goal. The ideal candidate is someone looking to advance their career and grow with a company who takes care of each other like family, has strong character, uses sound judgement, is a team-player, exhibits a calm yet focused demeanor, and has strong work ethic.


  • Work with team to procure materials; schedule crews, equipment, trucking and other resources
  • Work with team to plan and problem solve in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Supervise field crews and assign daily tasks
  • Timely completion of company and project specific paperwork
  • Work with team to develop construction schedules
  • Help with estimating and take-offs, soliciting of subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Generate RFIs, submittals, project schedules and document logs
  • Complete quantity tracking and field measurements
  • Work with crews to assess needs such as: survey, geotechnical testing, utility locates, etc
  • Coordinate with subcontractors
  • Work with project team to maintain safe construction practices


  • Minimum 1-5+ years experience in construction industry
  • Undergraduate or associate’s degree
  • Construction engineering/management or civil engineering (preferred)
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with construction drawings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, work under pressure, and meet critical deadlines while being detail-oriented and organized
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, time management, and project management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to field measure, calculate areas/volumes/tonnages, estimate small projects and precise mathematical reasoning skills
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is helpful, but not required
  • Basic understanding and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to work in the field as well as an office environment
