Goal: PPM exists to build up, encourage, and assist the local Church in serving and reaching their communities for Christ. As a seasonal staff member, you’ll spend time investing in these genuine partnerships by facilitating both logistic and relational aspects of these short term mission opportunities. Develop your leadership skills while being the bridge between the local Church and mission teams, supporting locally-run ministries each week you serve on the field.

Requirements:

Assistant Trip Leaders are required to be devoted Christians who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and that the Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God. Local service and ministry experience within your community, church or school is required, and short-term missions experience is preferred.

Assistant Trip Leaders should be selfless, ministry-minded, hardworking, energetic, reliable, and flexible, ready to adapt to frequently changing plans. Assistant Trip Leaders should enjoy working with people, and being a team player is key. Team members are expected to be available to serve in one of our host locations for a minimum of 2 consecutive weeks and up to 10 weeks per year. We prefer for our Assistant Trip Leaders to serve between 4-8 weeks in the summer. The position is for both college students and post-college age individuals, but you must be at least 18 years of age at the time of service.

Assistant Trip Leaders will attend our Spring Conference from Friday, April 28- Sunday, April 30, 2023 in Estes Park, CO. This event is mandatory for those serving in the summer season as it is a weekend filled with essential job training, fellowship with other staff and host partners, and vision casting for the busy season ahead (Local Puerto Rico staff will have training that takes place in Puerto Rico).

All PPM Seasonal Staff will be required to complete their assigned onboarding paperwork and participate in online training modules prior to serving to ensure they feel confident stepping into the position and have a good understanding of what is expected of them on the mission field.

Details:

Teach and spread the Christian faith by leading prayers and devotionals, reading scripture, and leading ministry, while demonstrating PPM’s mission of partnership with the local Christian church in serving others and advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Assistant Trip Leaders are integral members of our leadership team as we host churches, schools, and other mission groups each week. We will be staying with participating teams from across the country and providing them with a mission trip experience in one of our host locations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Generally helping to guide each team’s trip from logistical, relational and spiritual standpoints
  • Spending intentional time getting to know the team, host church, and PPM staff each week
  • Being a site leader during daily ministry while encouraging, facilitating and providing supervision, as well as participating in the ministry alongside the team
  • Assisting in lining up ministry, catering, recreation, or transportation details as delegated specifically by the Trip Leader each week
  • Running errands or creating supply lists for items that may be needed during the trip
  • Monitoring the lodging and partnership facilities to ensure PPM groups are leaving places better than we found them as well as assisting with facility clean up, restock, and more
  • Helping to set out or prepare snacks and meals for the team
  • Assisting in leading evening debrief meetings and devotions for teams

Our goal is to use each team member’s strengths and interests as Christian leaders to best serve our host partnerships and the mission teams that desire to serve alongside them.
