Job Title:  Associate Pastor

Job Description:   The Associate Pastor is responsible for the overall leadership and coordination of birth through adult ministries.  The position will focus on equipping, team building, volunteer recruitment, engaging families, and raising up leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the children, teens, adults and ministry leaders on:
    • EVANGELISM: Development of a comprehensive evangelism strategy (training, outreach, etc.)
    • DISCIPLESHIP: Create an integrated discipleship program, encompassing ages children through adults, to equip and deploy them into ministry as fully surrendered followers of Jesus Christ
    • EDUCATION: Oversee development of curriculum for Bible instruction
    • SERVICE: Coordinate and/or participate in service opportunities, including service projects both within and outside of the church  
    • MISSIONS: Assist our Missions Ministry Team in mission’s awareness throughout the church
  • Lead, recruit, and develop lay leaders and volunteers for ministry
  • Develop ways to creatively implement the value of multi-generational ministry
  • Coordinate implementation of any policies/procedures related to the Family Ministry
  • Develop educational opportunities for Family Ministry
  • Create opportunities that allow both new and established families to connect to the church
  • Take an active leadership role in family events (all ages)
  • Coordinate and take an active part in the Teen Ministry (grades 7 thru 12)
  • Develop ways to creatively reach families in the local schools and community
  • Assist the Senior Pastor with congregational care (visitations, counseling, etc.)

Expectations

  • Hold to the Milan Baptist Church core beliefs as described in the Milan Baptist Church Constitution, Article 2, “Character”
  • Be above reproach as a Pastor/Teacher as described in the Milan Baptist Church Constitution, Article 5, Section 2: Qualifications of Pastors and Deacons
  • Fulfill the Milan Baptist Church Constitutional duties of a pastor as detailed in Article 5, Section 2: Responsibilities for Pastors
  • Exhibit evidence of a growing personal walk and devotion to Christ (Philippians 1:9-11)
  • Assure compliance of Milan Baptist Church policies throughout ministries
  • Attend and participate in regular worship services of MBC
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings
  • Attend and participate in Deacon meetings as an ex-officio member
  • Substitute for pastoral functions as needed, including filling the pulpit
  • Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor for vision/leadership development and evaluation of goal implementation
  • Ongoing development of ministry skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and administration skills
  • Possess the ability to build teams, raise up leaders, and coordinate ministry
  • Possess a teachable and approachable spirit
  • Work well with a wide variety of ages throughout the church
  • Be a resource for helping families grow spiritually
  • Assist with curriculum development and implementation
  • Enjoy serving in a multifaceted ministry
  • Be fully committed to engaging with the families in the community

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

 Salary (Full time, based on minimum of 40 hours per week)
