MISSION
CAFE 180’s mission is to provide a meal to all people, regardless of ability to pay. CAFE 180 is a non profit community restaurant open for lunch and providing catering.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the oversight of the daily operations of CAFE 180 both FOH and BOH and for the performance and oversight of all CAFE 180 employees. This position will ensure all people are served a meal with dignity and respect and that CAFE 180’s core values are at the core of all decisions made.
The CAFE 180 Manager role is a full time, exempt position who exhibits, lives and teaches the vision, mission and values of CAFE 180. We are a place where all people are welcome, regardless of ability to pay and regardless of life circumstances. CAFE 180 strives to do this through volunteer programs, making all meals “affordable”, and by staying connected in the community. The person who fulfills this role must have interest in investing in and loving all types of people in a dignified way, leading staff members in a productive and respectful way, and serving nourishing meals.
The CAFE 180 Manager role will take responsibility for, with the assistance and support of the One Good Turn CEO, of the following: financial growth and development, number growth in paid for and community meals, staff recruitment and development, CAFE 180 advisory board recruitment and development.
The CAFE 180 Manager reports to the CEO of One Good Turn, One Good Turn Director of Operations, Founder, and One Good Turn board and is responsible for the duties of director as well as partnering with other employees to make a space that is welcoming and productive.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee FOH and BOH of CAFE 180
- Oversee all CAFE 180 staff
- Create, plan and coordinate a cost effective and consistent menu for day to day service
- Produce high quality and healthy meals
- Oversee catering staff to help to continue growth and revenue through CAFE 180 catering
- With the assistance of a cook, will help to manage relationship with food vendors
- Oversee cooks execution of food purchasing on a weekly basis, monitor food prices and work with cook to insure inventory and minimize waste
- Responsible for visual presentation of food and correct portioning
- Responsible for dining room cleanliness, organization and customer service with assistance from volunteer coordinator (who will work the front counter on a daily basis)
- Schedule all CAFE 180 employees to ensure cafe is staff properly
- Perform opening and closing duties and ensure the cafe is secure at all times
- Run weekly staff meetings and training – Making sure that these meetings are happening on a regular weekly basis to ensure good communication throughout all employees
- Maintain excellent levels of communication with the cafe team and guests
- Communicate equipment repair and issues as necessary with appropriate staff/companies
- Keep in contact with volunteer coordinator and catering manager to insure all food, disposables, beverages, etc are in stock and stored in rightful place
- Manage daily cash and register reconciliation
- Maintain CAFE 180 Advisory board meetings with the lead of the CAFE 180 Advisory Board Chair
- Maintain and grow relationships with CAFE 180 donors and stakeholders to ensure fundraising growth for CAFE 180
- Assist in and research community events that would be beneficial for marketing CAFE 180 in close collaboration with One Good Turn Community Relations Director
- Work closely with the One Good Turn Director of Operations and One Good Turn Creative Projects position to ensure that newsletters are going out monthly, social media is updated, blogs are updated, impact reports are current, and the website is current. Will also work closely for any additional marketing ideas
- Manage and effectively communicate with a diverse group of kitchen volunteers to ensure they are communicated with and have appropriate job designated to them
- Keep training sheets and manuals up to date
- Ensure that kitchen is properly cleaned on a regular schedule and all sanitary needs and requirements are set

SCHEDULE
CAFE 180 Manager schedule will be Tuesday – Saturday from 8am – 4pm most days with the flexibility to work nights for catering and other events.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of restaurant experience and customer service preferred
- 3+ years of restaurant management experience
- 2 years of nonprofit experience
- Ability to pass a background check
