As Deerwoods has recently joined a new portfolio of associated businesses under the Saturn Five investment umbrella, we are looking for a dynamic leader with industry knowledge to lead this company into the next phase of strategic growth.

The Position:

We are looking for a CEO with domain experience and the ability to motivate and lead a team of diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will be a culture-builder, a business integrator who can coordinate teams and implement systems and processes to make the business hum. This person should be comfortable making the hard decisions to generate and execute strategy, be willing and able to get in the weeds on day-to-day tasks, and be a great people person to make Deerwoods an exceptional place to work.

As the CEO, this person should be proactive and positive with a vision to lead Deerwoods financially, strategically, and culturally.


Build culture and align the various departments of the business (property managers, leasing department, finance team, and maintenance).
Optimize operations of a complex organization to streamline efforts.
Attract and retain the right individuals to help build the Deerwoods team; recruit, train, and mentor these people along the way.
Create and manage systems and processes to improve business operations in consideration of market constraints and industry trends.
Establish strategy and set priorities and performance objectives.
Build and maintain management rhythms within a framework to ensure execution of key priorities.
Bring their operations expertise and understanding of property management to bear on the daily efforts in the business.
Be able to weigh in on repair, maintenance, and remodeling projects (cost, scope, and timeline) to guide the overall efforts of vendors and the maintenance department.
Manage contractors and vendors to complete major projects on time and in scope.
Communicate with property owners regarding the financial big picture and operating financial details.
Understand small business financials (P&L, cash flows) in order to manage the business and help owners manage each property as a business.
Network with area leaders to build strong relationships with owners; sustain regular contact to effectively problem solve and serve as a trusted advisor.
Drive strategic business and sales initiatives.


Strong history in the property management or asset management arena with a track record of successful growth and management effectiveness.
General knowledge of property management; experience with multi-family property management, leasing, and real estate.
Track record of strong people skills and culture building, someone who values people, relationships, and the importance of solid company culture.
Positive, engaging demeanor; even-keeled to weather the ups and downs of business operations.
Persuasive and savvy to engage owners to see beyond the short-term bottom line and to grow the business in tangible and intangible ways.
An expansive view of property management (service-minded toward tenants, creative in finding ways to help tenants advance in life, able to operationalize kindness).
Able to identify and drive strategic business initiatives.
Able to quickly assess property needs, define priorities, and execute necessary action.
Proven history of successfully sourcing and managing contractors and vendors to project completion.
Financial acumen; able to understand P&L, cash management, labor and materials costs (COGS), and profitability.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
A creative problem solver with natural networking and sales skills.
