POSITION SUMMARY: The Children’s Ministry Director will lead and equip the Children’s Ministry Team in accomplishing all facets of the Children’s Ministry in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Grace Community Church. The Children’ Ministry at Grace Community Church directly impacts children and their families from birth (nursery) through fifth grade.

 

HOURS: Non-Exempt, Part-time (32 hours), 4-day office week plus responsibilities on Sundays. Some evenings required (Wednesdays).

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

3-5 years of related leadership experience
Certification or degree in related field
Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, and good moral character
Ability to listen well and speak out, remaining solution orientated
Proficient in electronic tools like Microsoft Office

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a mature Christian with a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Work location: Hudsonville, MI 49426, therefore must reliably commute or relocate

Role and Responsibilities:

Lead the Children’s Ministry: 50%

Recruit, equip and encourage the Children’s Ministry Elementary Team
Coordinate the vision of the Children’s Ministry programs to align to the vision of the church
Select, train and develop team leaders for the Children’s Elementary Ministry
Plan and oversee Children’s Ministry programming, curriculum, classroom, workers, policies, and review annually
Oversee the creation, organization, and communication of schedules and rosters
Oversee the training of team members for all elements of secure check-in/registration processes
Oversee classroom organization, supplies, setup, and cleaning
Oversee the review and maintenance of the Policy and Procedures Handbook
Oversee the implementation of welcome and assimilation elements for new families
Oversee the development and implementation of children’s/family outreach events throughout the year
Oversee regular communication with staff, volunteer teams members, and families
Ensures coordination of curriculum and transition activities with the Pastor of Student Ministries

 

General Responsibilities: 50%

Serve and lead in cooperation with and submission to the elders
Initiate and lead the processes of evaluation, change, and growth in Children’s Ministry
Ensure training, equipping, and multiplying volunteers remains a core value
Develop and administer an annual Children’s Ministry budget
Regularly attend staff meetings
Ensure a culture of focus and accountability where each team member understands their role, responsibilities, outcomes and wins, and achieves them with excellence
Manage a healthy team culture where each ministry team leader is living out the vision and values of GCC and loves being a part of the team
Develop and participate in team professional development
Perform other tasks in ministry teams as deemed necessary when available
