At Bear Valley Church (BVC) in Lakewood, CO, our mission is to lead people to know, love, and follow Jesus. Our vision is to be a transformed community serving to bless and influence our neighbors and the world with the Gospel. We believe that to keep moving toward this mission and vision, the next integral step is to add a full-time Connections Pastor to the church staff.

The Connections Pastor will support the Lead Pastor by providing leadership in the areas of connections within the church and in the community through oversight of our small groups and discipleship ministries, facilitating welcoming and engaging environments, creating meaningful and intentional connections within our local and online community, pastoral care, leadership development, preaching/teaching, and the overall spiritual health of BVC.

*Salary commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing our small groups ministry, including training/mentoring leaders, facilitators, and hosts
  • Organizing and promoting a comprehensive discipleship ministry
  • Facilitating a welcoming and engaging environment for all attendees
  • Developing a digital outreach and online discipleship strategy
  • Forming intentional partnerships with local organizations to provide engagement opportunities for BVC members
  • Assisting in leadership development and serving as a facilitator/teacher in regularly scheduled leadership trainings
  • Providing pastoral care and counseling to the church membership and members of the community
  • Assisting with the Sunday preaching ministry, as needed

Education & Experience:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in theology, Bible, or pastoral ministry, or related field
  • Master of Divinity from an accredited seminary preferred
  • Demonstrated call to ministry with 5+ years of full-time pastoral experience in a church of at least 200 or more
  • Ability to mentor individuals of all ages in their spiritual growth
  • Experience in developing and overseeing volunteer teams
  • Skilled at leveraging technology and social media to build and grow relationships
  • Ability to preach and teach

The ideal candidate will be outgoing, personable, and highly relational, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a capacity to facilitate relational connections between in-person and online attendees, a passion for innovation and learning, and an ability to motivate leaders and teams to accomplish the task of connecting people.
