About Black Mountain Expeditions (“BME”)

Black Mountain Expeditions is a Christian adventure and expedition program based in Black Mountain, NC. BME is associated with Camp Merri-Mac for Girls and Camp Timberlake for Boys and specializes in designing custom wilderness experiences for schools, corporate groups, families and open-enrollment expedition groups. Our mission is for participants to experience the Gospel through friends and adventure and we enjoy doing this with groups that share our faith and groups that do not. We are in our 14th year of operation and recent programs include:

• Whitewater Kayaking in Costa Rica
• Climbing in Joshua Tree
• Trekking in Patagonia
• Property-based school programs (we’ve had particular success here)
• Mountain Biking in Sedona
• PCIA Instructor Certifications
• Six-day NC High Country Expeditions
• Varied expedition-based school programs (This is where we want to grow)
  

Together with the Camp Merri-Mac and Camp Timberlake Directors, we have a strong team culture with a shared mission and pooled resources. We are an energetic and fun office with a year-round staff of about ten who work together very closely. 

Responsibilities

• Recruit new clients and develop new programs
• Develop and manage all programs including: program design, staff recruitment, permit management, logistics
• Hire staff for all BME programs and and up to ten expedition staff for Merri-Mac and Timberlake summer programs; support camp programs as needed

Most Qualified Candidates Will Have

• Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred
• Three years executive leadership experience
• Three years of experience with successful program sales
• Proven experience hiring and managing staff
• Comfort in outdoor adventure settings
• Ability to provide Christian Leadership for staff (devotions, faith development etc.)
