The Pastor of Discipleship is a key servant-leader who will equip and oversee The Chapel’s efforts to “grow committed followers of Jesus Christ” among adults. This man will be a leader of leaders; a strong team builder and player who is passionate about helping people grow in their faith. The Discipleship Pastor will also preach occasionally. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits, and will begin Summer 2022. He will report to the Lead Pastor, and oversee one part-time staff person.

RESPONSIBILITIES Adult Ministries Oversee and provide leadership of adult ministries as vehicles to grow committed followers of Jesus Christ: Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs), Small Groups, Ministry to Men, Ministry to Women, Young Adults, Prayer, and Marriage. Recruit, equip, delegate, and build strong relationships with leaders to accomplish ministry goals. Assimilation Help new people feel welcome, and get connected in relationships and serving among The Chapel. This includes oversight of the Connecting Ministry (Ushers, Greeters, Welcome Center volunteers, Security), guest follow up, and coordination of our membership class. Work closely with the Outreach Pastor to facilitate integration between evangelism and discipleship in the process of growing committed followers of Christ. Shepherding Provide pastoral care and guidance through: counseling, visits, performing weddings and funerals, etc. This is a generalist position that will be involved in many aspects of ministering to people. Preaching Preach God’s Word in Sunday worship services on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS A strong relationship with the Lord, and a man who meets the qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1: 5-9) A seminary degree is required. Agreement and credentialing with the Evangelical Free Church of America (or will obtain) A love for God’s people, and desire to see them grow to be spiritually mature. A highly relational “connector” and discipler. A team builder and player, yet also a self-starter who will take initiative. A commitment to expository preaching of God’s Word. Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple duties at once.
