Job Title Youth Assistant Director

Youth Director

Hours: Full-Time Position

Salary: Salaried, opportunity to raise additional salary available

Job purpose

The Assistant Youth Director exists primarily to serve youth at ODM but also to provide continuity between our children’s and teen ministries.  The position is a key component of the Youth Center, offering faith based educational support, active participation in the local school and summer programming for middle school and high school students.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Co-facilitate the Youth Drop-in Center
  • Maintain and build positive relationships with students and their parents
  • Assist in Youth Group activities
  • Develop mentoring relationships with students  and mentor through Save Our Youth
  • Partner with other staff members to transport kids from school
  • Be involved in the local schools (i.e. coaching, volunteering, tutoring) as able
  • Help plan, coordinate, and evaluate youth activities, including but not limited to the following:  weekly programming, retreats, summer and winter camps/trips
  • Weekly assist in the Learning Center, providing transportation from school and assisting in the classroom when needed
  • Be actively involved in maintaining a partnership with the Learning Center staff, students and families
  • Maintain up to date enrollment information for all students
  • Partner with other youth staff and pastors to maintain a strong relationship with ODM and WCI; this could include, but is not limited to ODF church attendance, Sunday Bible Study and monthly Sunday events
  • Participate in Youth staff meetings
  • Create a culture of honor and affirmation with the students
  • Attend ODM/ODF Chapel and ODM monthly staff meetings
  • Attend Open Door Fellowship or Westside Church Internacional for 6 months
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with youth in either ministry or school setting
  • High level of computer & communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and learn quickly
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work environment is both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor activities can be in extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow or high temperatures
  • This job involves sitting, standing, walking, and running
  • This job regularly involves moving up to 25 pounds
