Open Door Ministries exists to provide practical help and hope to people in urban Denver who are homeless or low income. Our primary objective is to move people toward self-sufficiency by helping change the circumstances and life patterns that have held them captive to poverty and addictions. Title of Position Youth Pastor/Director


Supervisor:  Program Director

Hours: Full Time; 40hrs/week

Sabbatical: Eligible upon approval

Required Meeting Attendance:

  • ODF Church Services
  • Open Door Fellowship Pastoral Meetings
  • Regular Meetings with Supervisor
  • Open Door Ministries staff meetings (one meeting and one training/month)

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Youth Pastor is to reach youth in urban Denver for Christ as on outreach of Open Door Fellowship Church.  This position will oversee and lead an urban youth ministry team of staff and volunteers with the goal of reaching out to new youth, the discipleship of the youth already in the ODM program, and pursuing long-term relationship with students and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting and overseeing staff as they coordinate and oversee all activities for the High School and Middle School youth groups of Open Door Ministries
  • Develop and oversee a volunteer adult team to work with the youth
  • Organize evangelistic outreaches to area youth
  • Disciple some youth personally and actively pursue the discipleship of all the youth
  • Be involved in the community (especially the local schools & sports teams) for the purpose of reaching youth
  • Partner with other churches, youth outreaches, and youth outreach organizations as appropriate
  • Coaching a team as they plan, coordinate, and evaluate annual, quarterly, etc. youth activities, e.g. retreats, summer and winter camps, backpacking trips, fishing trips, camping trips, mission trips
  • Partner with Learning Center staff to reach students and families with holistic support
  • Manage the youth ministry budget
  • Prepare and submit monthly and annual ministry reports including annual outcomes
  • Will attend ODM/ODF quarterly Chapel and ODM monthly staff meetings
  • This position is required to attend Open Door Fellowship Church


  • Familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education preferred
  • Ability to facilitate discipleship through individual and group Bible study
  • Ability to lead, coach and empower developing emerging leaders
  • Previous youth ministry experience, and/or training are a plus


 Lead in being a heartfelt team member of the Open Door Ministries and Open Door Fellowship staff teams

  • Have a daily walk with Christ
  • Show respect for the leadership and members of ODF and WCI
  • Cover those in your area of leadership with prayer

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work environment is both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor activities can be in extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow or high temperatures
  • Involves sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Ability to move 25 lbs.
