Description

Elmbrook Church is a non-denominational, intergenerational, multi-site church excited about the life change possible in Christ. Elmbrook’s mission is to help members become Rooted in Jesus Christ and Released to His mission. The Elementary Coordinator will seek to create engaging learning environments where elementary-age children (1st-5th grade) have the opportunity to discover who Jesus is and how much He loves them. This role works in collaboration with the Kids’ Ministry Team, other Family Ministry staff, and volunteer teams to facilitate cohesive coordination and implementation of ideas, planning, programming, and decisions.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Discipleship culture: Is a leading voice with staff, volunteers, and community members in championing Elmbrook’s vision of equipping disciples who make disciples.
  • Relationship Building: Fosters a unified and comprehensive discipleship strategy for elementary-age children, recruiting and training a dedicated team of volunteers and championing and supporting parents as primary spiritual leaders while effectively collaborating with all Elmbrook Church’s ministry teams.
  • Teaching and Leading: Demonstrates expertise in curriculum leadership for elementary-age children by creating engaging learning environments, activities, and programs, overseeing the execution of a comprehensive curriculum plan for Sunday teaching and special events, and maintaining a consistent teaching presence. They apply child development knowledge to effectively address children’s needs while collaborating with the Kids Ministry Team to design and implement engaging family events.
  • Administration: Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills by regularly engaging with families and volunteers and practicing healthy stewardship of budgeted resources. Additionally, they coordinate planning and scheduling with the Kids Ministry team, lead multiple projects concurrently, and oversee safety and security strategies for elementary areas. Furthermore, they ensure compliance with Elmbrook policies and procedures.
  • Doctrine: Leads and monitors the content, scope, and sequence of what is taught in Kids Ministry.
  • Collaborates with Ministry Teams: Serves as the Kids Ministry Team coordinator, encouraging and facilitating collaboration efforts with nursery, preschool, and elementary grade levels. Works together with ministry team leaders to effectively lead people to find and follow Jesus.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Helps fuel a focus on prayer within the volunteer teams and within the families they serve.
  • Lead and support efforts to help kids come to faith in Christ. Encouraging kids toward the love of Jesus and what it means to follow Him, as well as equipping parents as the primary disciplers of their children.
  • Be a primary storyteller of lives transformed by God whenever possible.

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a deep love for God’s word.
  • Active participant or member of Elmbrook church who supports and endorses the statement of faith, core values, and vision.
  • Actively demonstrates servant-leadership, upholding Elmbrook’s staff values of integrity and humility in their leadership and practice.
  • Affirms and practices Elmbrook’s Genetics as expected for all staff: inspiration, integrity, innovation, intent, inquisitiveness, insistence, and interdependence.
  • Desire to grow, seeking relationships, resources, and training to continue personal and professional growth. Stays current on trends and best practices for ministry to kids and families.
  • Relationally intuitive and a desire to shepherd well.
  • Desires to build healthy, positive, and life-giving relationships with other staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with visitors, community members, congregants, church leaders, and other corresponding ministries at Elmbrook Church.
  • Solid leadership, team building, project management, and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Able to build into volunteers and staff, encouraging growth in their giftings.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of work experience in a related field. Teaching experience to various age groups.

 

Employment Information

This position full time, hourly, and classified as non-exempt

30-35 hours/week.  Varies with season and workflow.

Salary – dependent on experience, skills & education

Paid Time Off (PTO) – Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO.  PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

 

403b – Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan if they are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  Entry dates for the 403b plan are the first of the month following the date of hire.  On an employee’s first anniversary, Elmbrook will match up to 2%.

 

Holidays – Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay. Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

 

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Discipleship Ministries Pastor and serves on the Family Ministry Team.
