Family Pastor Job Description

Role Type: Full Time; Salaried

Responsible to: Lead Pastor

Oversees: Family Ministries

Member of Teams: Church Staff, Family Ministry

To create vision and strategy for Family Ministry at Valley Fellowship Church. To raise up leaders who will invest in the next generation. To equip parents to lead and impact their child(ren) spiritually.

  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for Family Ministry that includes and impacts staff, volunteers, parents and their children.
  • Lead, develop and provide care for the Family Ministry staff
  • Lead a team to provide an engaging environment for children on Sunday mornings
  • Lead a team to provide an engaging environment for students during the week
  • Work with other staff, supervisors and elders to help implement Family Ministry vision and strategy into the church
  • Create new initiatives to reach unchurched families in our community
  • Must have a heart for the lost and broken and giving consistent input to ministry leadership with them in mind

  • Experience in development, management and leadership of volunteer teams is preferred
  • Exposure and understanding of family based ministries in various sizes of modern, relevant churches



  • Salary dependent on skillset and experience, $60-$80k
  • Benefits are negotiable in our restart environment

About Us


This is an exciting time of growth, renewal and a fresh start at Valley Fellowship. After over seventy years of impactful ministry in Buena Vista and Chaffee County, it is a new season of ministry in our church. Our Lead Pastor, Brett Crimmel, just joined our team this year and brings over 25 years of pastoring young, growing churches primarily in Colorado – starting, merging and leading churches – developing leaders at every level.


Our Family Ministry is ready for a strong leader with a bold vision. Our facility has been recently renovated and upgraded. Our children’s ministry environments are in the process of reopening after the pandemic. With volunteers and resources waiting, the new Family Pastor will have the opportunity to cast a vibrant vision, develop teams and leaders, and see families reached with the life-changing message of the gospel.
