Finance Assistant
Position Summary:
The Finance Assistant is a multifaceted role that assists the Finance Team in various administrative responsibilities. Duties include processing incoming and outgoing transactions and preparing journal entries. The qualified candidate will thrive in a structured setting while experiencing a good mixture of tasks – accounting, finance, and analytical – as well as helping various teams carry out their daily responsibilities. Additional opportunities to engage in finance projects may be offered which could provide opportunities to grow.
Position Responsibilities:
- Process cash disbursement transactions for global workers and special projects
- Assist in opening and sorting mail and contributions
- Assist in Gift Group creation and processing
- Responsible for depositing contributions at the bank (via Bank Drop)
- Assist in case management as assigned by Finance Team
- Work collaboratively with Accounts Payable, Donor Receipting, Staff Accountants, and Finance Leadership in matters related to Accounting and Operations for the global worker community and HQ
- Assist in special projects as assigned by the Assistant Treasurer and Finance Team
- Prepare recurring month-end journal entries as assigned by the Finance Team with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Day-to-day administrative functions of the Finance Team such as filing and scanning
- Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to interact positively with clients, donors, vendors and employees
- Ability to maintain customer files and invoices, sensitive company financial data and related company paperwork
- Skilled in administrative functions
- Knowledge of computer systems required (Ex. Salesforce and Microsoft Office)
- Experience learning new software systems highly desirable
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Capable of prioritizing multiple projects
- Personal initiative, creative and innovative thinker
- Flexible and adaptable to change, unexpected demands, and interruptions

- Maintains a positive attitude and willing to do the small things
Education and Formal Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Background in accounting and data entry preferred
- Experience in administrative duties
