About the Role:

First and foremost this person will partner with our staff and lay leaders to develop, direct, and oversee FBC Ashdown’s kid’s ministry (infant through 5th grade) as we lead people to courageously follow Jesus. This person will also be in charge of our Communications Ministry.  They will shepherd people from their first visit until they are connected and actively participating members of the church body.  A successful candidate is a visionary leader with the ability to see that vision be executed.


Provide direction and vision for the kid’s ministry, recruit teams, and develop leaders
Oversee VBS and other kid’s ministry related activities
Bring leadership & support to our nursery/preschool area
Provide oversight to the Children’s Ministry budget and help to develop budgetary needs for upcoming years
Build relationships with new families and help enfold them into FBC’s ministry
Develop and maintain a First Impressions Ministry which includes parking lot greeters and the welcome center volunteers.
Give leadership to the Hospitality Area which includes visitor information and visitor gifts.
Complete other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor as consistent with FBC’s mission and vision

Problem Solving – Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Gather and analyze information skillfully. Use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Program Management – Develop plans and coordinate ongoing programs. Communicate changes and progress.
Interpersonal Skills – Ability to make visitors, prospective members, and new members comfortable in the church, while also gently encouraging them to move beyond their current level of involvement. Connect with families as they utilize our kid’s ministry.
Delegation – Ability to identify the gifts, talents, and interests of current and prospective new members. Set expectations and monitor delegated activities. Leadership skills in recruiting and overseeing teams/volunteers of lay-leaders.
Cost-consciousness – Work within approved budget. Develop and implement cost-saving measures. Conserve organization resources while developing excellent ministry.

Education/Training Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four year university
2-4 years experience in kids ministry (paid or volunteer)
