Littleton Librarian for OMF
We are seeking a librarian with strong organizational skills, a heart for service and experience with library systems.
The OMF (U.S.) Missionplex has a small library which hosts many historical records (books, magazines and photos) documenting the work OMF has done in East Asia in the past 150 years, as well as a variety of general interest Christian books. The OMF (U.S.) Librarian oversees and facilitates the organization and maintenance of OMF’s U.S. library located in the Littleton Missionplex and works with the OMF (U.S.) Archivist to preserve and properly store these materials. The OMF (U.S.) Librarian will also supervise the work of OMF volunteers who desire to assist in the library.
Major Responsibilities:
Organize and Maintain the Missionplex Library
- Re-shelve borrowed/returned books.
- Maintain the order of the library according to the Library of Congress Classification system.
- Work with the Missionplex Archivist to do the following:
- Maintain OMF’s online catalogue on LibraryThing.
- Organize and catalogue both general interest and historical books in the library.
- Restore and reassemble bound volumes of CIM/OMF periodicals.
- When appropriate, send newly received CIM/OMF reading archives to the Billy Graham Center in Wheaton, IL, for preservation.
- Respond to inquiries from OMF staff members and the OMF website about materials in the library.
Supervise Library Volunteers
- Welcome and train new volunteers, including library assistants and OMF (U.S.) archivists.
- Assign tasks and projects to volunteers.
- Communicate with volunteers to arrange schedules for library work to provide suitable supervision.
