Ministry Leader

Praying Pelican Missions
Posted: 11/09/2022

Program Overview:

The Ministry Leader program is designed to develop, equip and support Christian leaders in ministry through the planning and facilitating of short-term missions trips around the globe. The primary goal of the Ministry Leader position is to learn and serve in ministry, most specifically with Praying Pelican Missions (PPM), representing PPM to organizations, trip participants, and partners so that God may be glorified and people may come to know Him through the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

In this program, you will teach and spread the Christian faith by leading prayers and devotion, reading scripture, and leading in ministry, while demonstrating PPM’s mission of partnership with the local Christian church in serving others and advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The program will incorporate different training elements including video conference calls, online resources and materials, and on-the-field ministry experience.

A Few Details:

  • The Ministry Leader will act as vital support to their assigned location. Ideally, the Ministry Leader will live in their location and will assist with trip setup, consulting (as assigned by location leader) and trip leading through the following actions:
    • Promote a positive image of PPM, build trust and rapport with all staff members, and maintain healthy, God honoring relationships with fellow team members.
    • Spend time daily in prayer and in scripture for PPM and all the avenues PPM covers.
    • Connect with and consult the team group leaders assigned to you, to assist in their spiritual and logistical trip preparations. Be available in the months leading up to the trip to answer questions and go over in detail the trip plans, ensuring all four capstone calls are fully completed by that time.
    • Make advance preparations (set up) for each trip as delegated.
    • Coordinate ministry activities with identified partners in location.
    • Support Location leadership in carrying out established team delegations through collaboration and personal action as appropriate or assigned.

    • This travel will be coordinated by the Location Leader and will likely include travel to meet assigned partners, lodging locations and scheduled ministry areas, to aid in the planning and consulting initiatives.
    • The primary emphasis of this trip is to expose the Ministry Leader to the trip leading experience, location logistics, and partner relationships.
    • The Location Leader will tailor this trip to the primary training needs of the specific Ministry Leader, taking into account any prior PPM ministry experience.
    • Any exception to scheduling this trip-related experience prior to the end of April must be approved by the Location Leader and Program Manager.
  • Ministry Leaders will gain experience in business and ministry competencies.
  • Throughout the spring, Ministry Leaders will be developing holistic skills and knowledge needed for summer service and ministry as trip leaders with Praying Pelican Missions.
