The Homeschool Enrichment Program of Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County seeks a part-time Classical Performance teacher for its growing program in Lone Tree, Colorado, in the south Denver metro area. Classical Performance teachers will guide students to enjoy, appreciate, and interpret poetry and literature. They should be comfortable exposing students to various poems and works of literature. Students will learn how to become effective communicators, while having fun with dramatic performances and reader’s theater plays. They will teach four sections of performance to students in 1st through 8th grade.
The teacher will create their own lessons within our curriculum framework. All curriculum books and materials will be provided. Training, support and collaboration are a regular part of our staff culture.
Desired Start Date: Training starts the week of August 15, 2022, and the program year lasts 38 weeks, ending at the end of May, 2023.  
Compensation Range and Schedule: $13,000-$14,000 annually. Teaching occurs in-person on Fridays from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Additional work time is needed for before- and after-school preparation, resulting in a work week that is approximately 12-14 hours per week. Teachers work approximately 40 weeks per year, from mid-August to mid-June.
Qualified candidates will have a strong background in the subject area and demonstrate high moral character. They will have previous classroom experience working with elementary age students. They will demonstrate enthusiasm and knowledge of classical education, and expertise in the subject matter. They will desire to partner with parents and to mentor home-educated students in the pursuit of their own flourishing. Candidates should desire to work in a collaborative environment. They should be professional, well-organized, and rigorous in their own intellectual and moral development.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • For co-curricular subjects, at least 36 hours of higher education in the subject area of instruction
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • After offer is accepted, satisfactory background check as required by state law and Colorado Department of Education
  • Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education
  • Loyalty to the school, classical education, and the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academies
  • Commitment to model moral character in line with the school’s core virtues and the pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful
  • Adherence to all ACA policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies
