McKenzie Bible Fellowship – Pastor
MBF is seeking a new pastor to shepherd their church family. Our former pastor retired after 32 years of service to us. We are a rural church in Leaburg, Oregon, about 25 miles east of Eugene, Oregon (171,000 pop.). Our church is associated with ChurchVenture Northwest but serves a congregation and community from a variety of denominational and non-denominational backgrounds.
Description of Church Properties and Community
MBF was incorporated in 1957. The church facilities sit on a four acre site along the McKenzie River and includes a three bedroom parsonage, a multipurpose/gymnasium, a separate food pantry, and an auditorium that can accommodate 300 people, along with multiple classrooms and kitchen.
MBF serves a number of small communities in the McKenzie River valley, that extend a length of about 50 miles. Our area is known for its fishing, rafting, hiking, biking and outdoor recreation. Major shopping and service areas can be found in Springfield (pop. 61,000) and Eugene (pop. 171,000). Eugene is the home of the University of Oregon and a number of other smaller colleges and universities.
Description of Congregation
Our congregation consists of about 120 members, of all age groups. Approximately 60% are retired while others include young and middle aged families and children. Students include home-school students, as well as students who attend school in Springfield to the west, and Blue River to the east. We are a friendly family-oriented church who love fellowshipping and worshiping together and studying the Word. We have a number of small groups that meet each week and a number of weekly women’s Bible studies. Two worship teams alternate each month in leading our services. We place a high value on knowing and applying the Word of God and desire a Shepherd who will both accurately teach as well as model the Scripture. Church leadership consists of a group of Deacons, who oversee the material needs of our church family and facilities, and a group of Elders who oversee the spiritual needs of our congregation.Over the 30 year tenure of the previous pastor, our church experienced no major conflicts or church division.
MBF is financially stable and all buildings and parsonage are debt free. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes salary, housing, utilities, medical insurance, and retirement. The compensation package is between $65,000 to $76,000 a year, depending on experience, education, and need.
MBF is seeking an individual with a strong gifting in teaching the Word. He must be an individual that loves people, with a heart for outreach into the community. While we would prefer someone with previous pastoral experience, recent graduates from Bible School or Seminary are invited to apply and will be considered as the Lord leads the Search Committee. We are seeking one with strong exegetical skills, who communicates clearly the meaning of the Scripture text, and then helps draw a life application. The candidate needs to be a team player, as he will serve an an equal among the Elder Board. The qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 are required of the candidate. MBF is best served by ahumble servant-leader; one who can lead with Scriptural authority and a humble spirit.
