WHO WE ARE

Calvary Church is a forward-looking and Christ-centered church that desires to reach its fast-growing community for Christ. Positioned near the high school and new neighborhoods, there is much potential for gospel advancement and growth. By faith, Calvary Church has grown to have a faithful core of believers but now needs to take a more relational approach to ministry and outreach that relates well to younger generations and families. Though the church has enjoyed strong teaching from pulpit supply pastors living elsewhere, both the congregation and the community need an onsite pastor to relationally cultivate new soil to help them advance their vision of fruitful outreach and growth.

WHERE WE ARE

The town of Wahoo is located in eastern Nebraska, just 30 minutes from the larger cities of Lincoln and Omaha and 20 minutes from the city of Freemont. Wahoo is the county seat of Saunders County, making it a destination for many services and goods to the county’s 16 communities.  Though the population of Wahoo is 5,000, there are 13,500 people within a 7-mile radius of the city center and over 1.3 million people within a 30 to 45-minute drive when considering the Omaha and Lincoln metropolitan areas.  After the pandemic, hundreds of families have been moving into Wahoo because of its strong school district, medical and government services, and proximity to metropolitan amenities and jobs.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Calvary Church is praying for God to provide its next pastor.  This man will model a strong walk with Christ, a clear calling to pastoral ministry, and be a ministry generalist who is able to navigate and develop a “bedroom community” church ministry.  We desire for him to bring strengths in the areas of preaching/teaching, pastoral care, communications, and relational outreach to younger families.  Though this position will begin as part-time, we desire to release our pastor with full-time compensation as soon as possible. Calvary is a Great Commission-oriented church, so it is important that its pastor leads us with an outreach orientation while being personally connected to the community, mission efforts, and broader denominational district.  Interestingly, “Wa-hoo” is a word from the native Sioux language that means burning bush.  Many new people have moved into the community of Wahoo.  Calvary is a church with a core group of faithful believers that wants to reach these people and is praying for a pastor to lead them.  Could this be a “burning bush” moment for you?  Thank you for prayerfully considering this opportunity and submitting your materials to begin a conversation.
