Description:
Serve Asia is OMF’s short-term (2 weeks–11 months) mission discipleship program. Serve Asia aims to see each individual and team grow in their relationship with Christ, their view of the world and their involvement in God’s mission.
Serve Asia Follow-up Mentors will mentor individual placements and mission mentors (team leaders) once they have returned from their short-term trip. The Follow-up Mentor strives to help participants see purposeful mission involvement continue beyond their time overseas by integrating lessons from their trips into their everyday lives.
Major Responsibilities
Mentor Serve Asia Participants after Their Trip
- Meet with Serve Asia participants (in person or via webcam) for approximately six months after their trip to help them integrate lessons from their trip into their lives.
- Pray with Serve Asia participants about next steps of growing in their relationship with God and finding their place in his mission.
- Encourage participants to find a local mentor to walk with them after their Serve Asia journey is finished.
- Write and report conversation summaries to Serve Asia Follow-up Coordinator monthly.
- Help with Serve Asia trainings if needed.
Learn About and Recommend Relevant Resources
- Read and discuss materials and resources provided by the Serve Asia team.
- When appropriate, suggest OMF resources to a Serve Asia Alumni that will help them stay involved in mission.
- Learn about OMF fields and ministries.
