Youth and Children's Ministry
Job Description
Student Ministry Pastor leads the youth program under the supervision of the Family Pastor while participating in additional Sunday morning responsibilities, such as leading hospitality and participating in set-up and tear-down. Flexibility is key, as this position requires diverse skills such as: physical stamina to set up staging and lights, a talent for management and recruitment of weekly hospitality and student ministry volunteers, and the traditional youth pastor skills of teaching and building relationships with teenagers.
Qualifications
- Person who knows Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and actively pursues Him through spiritual disciples such as Bible reading and prayer
- Passion for teenagers and experience volunteering with them
- Ability to lead and recruit multiple teams of volunteers
- Demonstrastes a servant’s heart and willingness to learn and grow
- Minimum age of 18
Time Commitment & Duration
- 20 hours per week, which includes the following reoccurring events:
- Sunday mornings: 6 AM – Noon
- Weekly youth event
- Weekly staff meeting
Roles & Responsibilities
1) LEAD STUDENT MINISTRY
- Run a weekly youth program to teach the gospel, disciple students and attract guests
- Recruit adult volunteers and train them to disciple our teens
- Plan an engaging calendar of fun events, retreats, and weekly discipleship opportunities
2) LEAD SUNDAY HOSPITALITY TEAM
- Includes sign team, parking, greeters, coffee, info booth, ushers, and breakfast crew for set-up teams
- Insure we are creating a warm, welcoming environment for all who attend
- Ensure guests have a great experience with several “touches,” and appropriate information
- Leading team includes recruiting, training, equipping, scheduling, and monitoring all ministry volunteers and leaders
- Attend all services and be available for questions or support for whatever may be needed
- Track inventory and reorder supplies – cups, coffee, promo items, tithe envelopes, etc
3) PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY SET UP AND TEAR DOWN
- Arrive at DCS Montessori at 6 AM to help the sanctuary set up team
- After service, remain and help with tear down
4) ATTEND WEEKLY STAFF MEETINGS & MENTOR MEETING WITH FAMILY PASTOR
- Staff meetings typically happen on Monday mornings
- Meet monthly with the Family Pastor for mentoring and vision alignment
