Youth and Children's Ministry
As the Youth Director, you’ll be expected to lead and engage the youth with the love of Christ. You will be responsible for creating a safe environment for the youth which fosters growth, space to develop trust with peers, and the opportunity to explore and deepen a relationship with God. The Youth Director will plan and execute Gospel-centered teaching, provide discipleship and outreach opportunities for students, and oversee a volunteer leadership team.
Coordinate and lead weekly youth meetings which include whole group Bible teaching, small group discussions, worship, fellowship and games
Collaborate with leaders to organize periodic social events which are inclusive to all youth outside of weekly meetings
Connect with and include new youth students and families
Recruit, train and give oversight to leader/mentors
Communicate events/programs to families via email/digital platforms
Organize and lead two youth retreats/year (summer/winter), including fundraising
Work collaboratively with the Refuge staff, attending weekly staff meetings
Coordinate with Justice & Mission ministry to develop outreach opportunities for youth
All applicants shall have:
Completed bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent, at minimum.
Prior bible-teaching experience
A minimum of one year experience working with middle/high school students in a church setting
Prior experience recruiting, training, and leading other adults
Baseline technological savvy, including competency with email, social media, Google Drive or other office software. Experience with Planning Center tools preferred.

Flexible: You are able to adapt to new circumstances while remaining committed to the big picture and overall success of the group.
Humble: You are teachable, light-hearted, and don’t take yourself too seriously. You bring strengths and abilities to the table along with a willingness to learn and grow.
Refuge Church is located on the westside of Albuquerque, NM and was planted in fall of 2015. We are a worshiping community of about 350 people and are associated with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). Our youth ministry, Refuge Youth, is made up of about 50 middle schoolers and high schoolers. At Refuge, we are working to create spaces where people are welcomed no matter their questions, struggles, or doubts. We are seeking to be a family rooted in Jesus, filled with love and affection, committed to one another.
This position is part time (about 20 hours per week) with a starting pay of $18-22/hr based on experience.
