ABOUT THE CHURCH: Boulder Chinese Baptist Church (BCBC), a member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), is formed by a group of Christ-followers in Boulder, Colorado. Our main ministry focus is ethnic Chinese. The aim of our church is to glorify God and benefit people: Accepting Lord’s Great Commission, to spread gospel news about Christ. Everyone is welcomed in our church to enjoy the love of Jesus. Due to the rapid growth, we are looking for a minister of Youth/Students.
MINISTRY PURPOSE: To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelations, to equip youth to be authentic followers of Christ, as well as implement planning the administrative aspects of youth ministry and services to BCBC and the community.
SERVICE RELATIONSHIPS: The Youth Ministry Intern is under the direction of the BCBC deacon board including the Senior Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Systematic seminary education with Youth ministry as the focus Lead an exemplary life as a follower of Jesus Personal faith is in line with what SBC believes Previous Youth/Students ministry experience is a plus A Godly loving and mature leader A team-builder and player Native English speaker
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The duties include giving directions to the overall educational and activities to promote evangelism and discipleship by planning, promoting, coordinating, conducting, and evaluating the Youth/Students activities of BCBC.
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to: Being accountable to the BCBC deacon board concerning the implementation of events and activities concerning BCBC Youth Ministry and BCBC. Working closely with current youth group teachers, BCBC Senior Pastor and deacons to develop a strategic plan for the ministry of youth providing a balanced, comprehensive Christian education to youth. Supervising, participating in, and planning youth activities. Creating events for parents of youth-related to their parenting roles, and activities for parents and youth. Preparing and leading Sunday School and Friday fellowship lessons through team working with youth group leaders. Making personal contact with students outside the class setting. Assisting in supervising youth ministry equipment and supplies. Utilizing various forms of communication for student progress, events, and other youth ministry endeavors. Establishing and nourishing good relationships with both youth and their families. Working with volunteers and parents to provide the youth with the best possible ministry experience. There will be weekly contact with the youth group leaders—as available—to evaluate the progress of various projects being undertaken for the youth ministry. A ministry journal is encouraged.
Role Model—it is understood that a major part of the YMI’s job is to model positive Christian morals and standards to teens as true followers of Christ. Wisdom and discretion should be taken in all areas of one’s life. Particular attention should be made if in a dating relationship (no PDA) and clothing choices (err on the side of complete modesty—e.g., no tank-stops.
