Endowed funds are crucial to training future pastors, scholars, and ministry leaders; every scholarship enables more students to be equipped with a seminary education. In 1957, Dr. Bruce Shelley joined the faculty at Denver Seminary to teach church history and historical theology. Over half a century later, Dr. Shelley continued to teach and mentor in the area of Christian thought, providing countless students the foundation they need to be successful in a ministry setting, until his passing in 2016. It is because of his dedication to teaching Biblical truths that the Dr. Bruce L. Shelley Endowed Scholarship was established.
This scholarship provides aid for continuing students who demonstrate academic excellence in the area of Christian thought and exhibit potential for teaching in a Christian higher education setting. Each year, this endowed fund will award one scholarship to a continuing Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Master of Arts (MA) student.
“Thank you for blessing my family and me with your gift through the Dr. Bruce L. Shelley Endowed Scholarship. Without your help, attending Denver Seminary would not be possible. You have supported me with financial assistance, and therefore encouragement and motivation because you see something in me that is worth investing in. Honoring you and God, through my life and studies, is very important to me because you are entrusting me with something very special. Thank you.”
