Kent Mathews Endowed Scholarship

justice scales

Kent Mathews graduated from Denver Seminary in 1985 with a degree in counseling. Kent’s strong sense of justice and compassion for the marginalized characterized his life and work until his death in 1994. Your gift to the Kent Mathews Endowed Scholarship honors Kent’s life and continues his legacy in the area of Christian Social Ethics by providing financial aid to students with a similar passion.

This scholarship is for full-time Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Master of Arts (MA) students with a concentration in Justice and Mission.

“Amazed at the ways nature can be an incredible tool to bring people closer to God and create change in peoples’ lives, I pursued a degree in Justice and Mission to learn how to serve the populations God has called me to. This scholarship eased the financial burden of pursuing God’s calling on my life. Ultimately, I envision the outdoors as an avenue for creating change in the lives of poor and marginalized people. Thank you so much for this blessing!”
