Pay: $45,032 – $60,061

General Statement of Job Function

The position of Human Resource Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including, but not limited to, talent management, onboarding, benefits administration and review, classification/compensation, performance management, employee recognition, employee relations, training, and development, leave administration, and enforcing Denver Seminary policies and best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs, processes, and best practices.
  • Assists with recruitment, interviews, and facilitation of hiring qualified job applicants for open positions. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Handles employment-related and benefit inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Assists with evaluation, updates, and development of job descriptions and maintain classification and compensation plan documents.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews and recommends policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • At least one year of human resource supervision experience is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP a plus but not required.

  • Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments.
  • Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith.
  • Deep knowledge of human resources legal and regulatory requirements
  • High quality of internal and external customer service delivery in all areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze and assess human resource functions and responsibilities.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climbing stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
