General Statement of Job Function
The KGC Writing Center Tutor provides individualized, supplemental writing support to students in Denver Seminary’s Korean-language Master’s and DMin programs. This position requires near-native Korean fluency and focuses on helping KGC students develop strong academic writing skills in Korean for theological coursework and research. Experience with academic research or graduate-level writing in Korean is preferred.
This is a part time position with approximately 10-15 hours a week.
Essential Functions
- Provide direct tutorial support for Master’s-level students eight hours a week, both in person and through Zoom video conferencing, during fall and spring semesters.
- Edit Master’s-level writing assignments as assigned.
- Provide monthly reports of all students tutored and papers edited to the Writing Center Coordinator.
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in English or related field preferred.
- Applicants must have experience in writing, editing, and tutoring.
- Familiarity with the Denver Seminary curriculum required.
Qualifications
- Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments
- Agreement with Denver Seminary’s statement of faith
- Fluently bilingual in Korean and English
- Basic knowledge of tutoring styles and techniques
- Excellent writing skills, and high proficiency in grammar and editing are necessary
- Intermediate knowledge in the following areas:
- Tutoring styles and techniques
- Korean student writing needs
- Turabian and citation styles
- Grammar and Punctuation Rules
- Thesis and paper organization

Outcomes
- Assisting students accomplish their goals for writing.
- The Writing Center will contribute to the retention and completion of programs for Denver Seminary students by efficiently and appropriately resourcing the writing needs of students.
Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Normal office working conditions including computer usage may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
