Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Technology
Denver Seminary announced today that Dr. Sam Kurien, Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer, has accepted an appointment as Global Chief Technology Officer of an international healthcare organization. He will lead technology strategy, digital transformation, and AI innovation across operations spanning 30 countries.
During his time at Denver Seminary, Dr. Kurien strengthened institutional process standards and launched several major initiatives, including a new student information system, the implementation of Simple Syllabus and Simple Prep, and a network infrastructure upgrade. He will continue to serve the Seminary for a season through a consulting arrangement to support the continuity of this work.
“Sam brought the experience of a global technology leader to Denver Seminary and gave it freely to this community,” said Dr. Mark Husbands, President of Denver Seminary. “He understood that our systems exist to serve students, faculty, and staff, and through them the churches, nonprofits, and clinics our graduates will lead. We send him to this wider work with gratitude, with our prayers, and with our blessing.”
“My time at Denver Seminary has been a true gift,” said Dr. Kurien. “I am deeply grateful for the leadership and mentorship of Dr. Husbands and for the privilege of serving alongside the leadership team and my colleagues. Above all, I have been blessed by the friendships, prayers, and encouragement of this community. I leave with deep gratitude and with confidence in the Seminary’s mission and Charter, and I will be watching and praying to see how God continues to use Denver Seminary for the Kingdom.”
Before joining Denver Seminary, Dr. Kurien served as Global CIO of The Alliance, supporting operations in more than 80 countries and 1,500 staff worldwide. He has taught Information Systems and Statistics at Colorado Christian University and holds a PhD in Management Information Systems, with postdoctoral research in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
