We cordially invite you to join the upcoming “Public Reading of Scripture” Forum at Denver Seminary.
The PRS Forum is dedicated to exploring the theological, historical, and practical dimensions of engaging with Scripture through the practice of Public Reading of Scripture (PRS). The Apostle Paul exhorted Timothy, “Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching” (1 Timothy 4:13).
Rooted in this biblical command, PRS is an ancient and vital practice characterized by “listening to substantial portions of Scripture in community, regularly, and extensively” with the goal of engaging the entire Bible. PRS played a foundational role in the worship of the early church.
Despite its historical importance, PRS has experienced a significant decline, particularly within Western Christianity. Yet today, there are hopeful signs of renewal. Churches and Christian leaders are reintroducing this practice in various settings using high-quality dramatized audio Bibles. These settings include seminary and university campuses, prisons, rescue missions, local congregations, small groups, workplaces, and homes, fostering fresh encounters with God’s Word in community.
