Description

Elmbrook Church is a non-denominational, intergenerational, multi-site church excited about the life change possible in Christ. Elmbrook’s mission is to help members become Rooted in Jesus Christ and Released to His mission. This leadership role aims to equip believers to live Christ-centered lives by providing oversight, leadership, and strategy development for life groups in partnership with women’s and men’s ministry. This individual will work closely with the Discipleship Ministries Pastor to articulate, support, and implement Elmbrook Church’s unique discipleship environment.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Establishing Discipleship culture: Is a leading voice with staff, volunteers, and community members in discerning, describing, and championing Elmbrook’s vision of equipping disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.
  • Develops and leads Adult Discipleship leaders: Leads and develops staff and volunteer leaders for Life Groups, Men’s and Women’s ministries. Increases impact and spiritual depth of Elmbrook Church attendees through assimilation into various communities and groups.
  • Content Creation & Deliverables: Collaborates with the Teaching, Discipleship, and Communication teams to develop and deploy supporting resources and digital content.
  • Doctrine: Assists in monitoring the content, scope, and sequence of group-learning materials.
  • Collaborates with the Ministry Discipleship Team: Works together with ministry team leaders to effectively lead people to find and follow Jesus.
  • Serves on the Ministry Leadership Team: Collaborating with ministry department leaders and pastors.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Helps fuel a focus on prayer within the staff and the larger church body.
  • Develops and oversees efforts to help people come to faith in Christ. Equips adults to have spiritual influence on those around them.
  • Perform other pastoral responsibilities. Serves on the “Pastor on Call” rotation and is willing to shepherd people.
  • Be a primary storyteller of lives transformed by God whenever possible.

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a deep love for God’s word.
  • Active participant or member of Elmbrook church who supports and endorses the statement of faith, core values, and vision.
  • Actively demonstrates servant-leadership, upholding Elmbrook’s staff values of integrity and humility in their leadership and practice.
  • Affirms and practices Elmbrook’s Genetics as expected for all staff: inspiration, integrity, innovation, intent, inquisitiveness, insistence and interdependence.
  • Desire to grow, seeking relationships, resources, and training to continue personal and professional growth.
  • Relationally intuitive and a desire to shepherd well.
  • Desires to build healthy, positive, and life-giving relationships with other staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with visitors, community members, congregants, church leaders, and other corresponding ministries at Elmbrook Church.
  • Solid leadership, team building, project management, and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Able to build into volunteers and staff, encouraging growth in their giftings.

Skills and Experience

  • At least five years of leadership responsibility experience in a church or more. Groups’ experience and training are preferred. A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in biblical studies is preferred.

 

Employment Information

This position is full-time, salaried, and classified as exempt 40 hours/week.

Salary – dependent on experience, skills & education

Paid Time Off (PTO) – Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO.  PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

 

403b – Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan if they are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  The 403b plan entry dates are the first of the month following the hire date.  Elmbrook will match up to 2% on an employee’s first anniversary.

 

Holidays – Full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay.  Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

 

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Discipleship Ministries Pastor and serves on the Discipleship Ministries Leadership Team.
