The doctor of ministry program is designed to help students reflect more deeply on the nature and purpose of ministry and ways they can serve others that are culturally relevant and contextually appropriate. The program seeks to help students grow in their faith and ministry skills so they may honor Christ in all they do and serve humanity with conviction, passion, and grace. Our practical, innovative program gives participants the opportunity to network with and learn from other like-minded professionals and to study with some of the finest ministry practitioners in the country.

Who should pursue the DMin Degree Program?

Individuals currently involved in ministry and looking for next-level understanding and skills in their field.
Individuals looking for advanced theological reflection and integration in order to more effectively serve their congregations and Christian ministries.

What will I study?

The DMin program consists of 33-34 semester credit hours. Your thesis will address a real ministry need in your particular context, developing and implementing a strategy to address it.

There are three standing tracks to choose from in the DMin program:

Spiritual Formation

Specialized cohort tracks include:

New Missional Movements (partnership with Forge America, begins Winter 2024)
Trauma Informed Ministry (begins 2025)
Black Church Leadership (begins 2025)
Advanced Preaching (begins 2026)

Graduates from the DMin program serve as vocational or bi-vocational professionals making an impact in churches, schools, and individual and organizational Christian ministries around the world.

Important Dates

Admissions Deadlines

DMin applications are reviewed as soon as all materials have been received. Completed applications for English-language programs are due September 15 for winter entry. Korean-language applications are due March 15 for summer entry and September 15 for winter entry. If space is available, applications will be considered on a rolling basis after these dates.

A Doctor of Ministry degree often provides opportunities for advancement in one’s ministry context and may open up opportunities to teach or work in a variety of educational or denominational settings. Our DMin alumni are serving as:

Program Entrance Requirements

Hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution
Be able to pass an oral examination of knowledge of the Bible, theology, and the arts of ministry (if the master’s degree is not an MDiv)
Have at least three years of ministry leadership experience
Currently be in a ministry context that allows for application of the concepts learned
