Dr. Hugh Ross, Founder and Senior Scholar at Reasons to Believe, visited Denver Seminary on November 17, 2022. He gave a presentation entitled “Weathering Climate Change.” He also recorded answers to questions submitted by The Gospel Initiative. Dr. Ross is the author of “Weathering Climate Change: A Fresh Approach” (Reasons to Believe Press, 2020). Reasons to Believe makes every effort to help people discover that sound reason and scientific research consistently affirm the truth of the Bible and of the Good News it reveals.

Your background is in physics. What motivated you to write “Weathering Climate Change”?

Some Christians are suspicious of the reports they hear on climate change and the data available. How can Christians understand the scientific literature on this topic without scientific training?

What makes a scientific publication on climate change more credible than other sources?

All the proposed mitigation and adaptation strategies to deal with climate change require large-scale buy-in from the public. What might be a realistic relationship between scientists, economists, and policy makers who can help create the political will to bring about change?

If the universe was intelligently designed to support human life, does this undercut the human effects on climate change? Will God simply keep our planet sustainable for human life until the gospel is proclaimed to all nations as in Matthew 24:14?
