In memory of Sarah Bowes Johnson
Sarah gave her life to Jesus Christ during high school through participation in Young Life. Her newborn faith then forever changed the lives of her family, friends, and future husband, children, and grandchildren. Her vibrance, kindness, and innate leadership ability were evident to all as Sarah gladly shared the gospel message and nurtured the faith of many other women during her life.
The descendant of two Colorado pioneering families, Sarah saw Denver Seminary as a unique and vital Christian ministry to her native city and state. As a Denver Seminary Board of Trustees member, she was honored to faithfully support the Seminary with her time, talents, and financial resources.
The purpose of this Scholarship is to provide financial support to Denver Seminary students who have the passion and leadership skills to engage with youth during an impressionable time of life. The intended recipients are those who desire to bring a sense of fun, adventure, and excitement to walking with Jesus Christ and, like Sarah, to forever benefit the lives of others by leading them in the life-changing truth of Scripture.
“Sarah’s deep faith and unwavering commitment to the gospel were evident in every area of her life. She lived them out no matter the setting or the circumstances that she faced. She inspired all of us to deeper faith and an unshakeable commitment to the gospel. We couldn’t be more grateful for the years we were privileged to know her.” – Dr. Mark Young, President
