General Statement of Job Function
This is a part-time, non-exempt student position limited to a maximum of 10 hours per week during the academic semester. The Work Study position supports the day-to-day operations of the Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care (CPC) Department by assisting with administrative tasks, maintaining department records, and providing responsive support to students, faculty, and staff. Applicants must be currently enrolled at Denver Seminary, in good academic standing, and authorized to work in the United States.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chair of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care, the Work Study student plays an integral role in supporting the department’s mission. Responsibilities include assisting with event planning, managing communications, maintaining internship documentation, and helping to ensure an organized and efficient workflow. This role requires professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department.
Essential Functions
- Assists with Adjunct Faculty communication and on-boarding.
- Researching information as requested.
- Departmental Communication – managing and updating the CPC Department’s SharePoint site and communicating with groups through Outlook.
- Monitors and maintains an accurate and up-to-date listing of all active students in the Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care programs.
- Maintains all internship files in alignment with other organizations.
- In cooperation with Chair, helps support Ministry Site Mentors and maintains the necessary documentation required from them.
- Drafts, formats, and produces letters and documents.
Education/Training/Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal customer service skills are required. Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and web proficiency is required. Individual needs to be a self-starter, self-directed, detail-oriented, and have the ability to multi-task. Strong administrative, organizational, and professional aptitude is required as well as being team-oriented and flexible.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately to individuals and groups in both written and oral communications.
- A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exemplary organizational skills.
- Excellent collegiality and collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing one of the Chaplaincy or Pastoral Care degrees or certificates.
- Experience working with chaplaincy, provision of spiritual care, military organizations, and/or higher education.
- Office experience.

Outcomes
- Efficiently and effectively supports the Chair of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care Programs by communicating with students, staff, faculty, and adjunct faculty.
- Helps organize and executive departmental administrative tasks that enable the department to serve students in degree completion.
- Satisfactory completion of required student internship placement for all chaplaincy and pastoral care academic programs.
- Maintenance of excellent communication with outside ministry site mentors and other partners.
Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Normal office working conditions, including computer usage, may require occasional standing, walking, long periods of sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
