Compelling and Credible Witness: The Church and Climate Change | Fri., May 5, Denver Seminary

The community and church and lay leaders are invited to explore how the Church can engage in a compelling way to care for the earth and all creation, at Denver Seminary during the Compelling and Credible Witness: The Church and Climate Change conference, hosted by The Gospel Initiative. This event will be held at the Seminary and via livestream on Fri., May 5, from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Topics to be addressed include the science behind climate change and why some struggle to accept it; faithful actions for Christians, including political actions; how climate change intersects with race, health, and poverty; and how acting on climate change has the potential to protect the most vulnerable.

Keynote speakers are Dr. Jessica Moerman, vice president of the Evangelical Environmental Network, and Dr. Rachel Lamb, who encourages Christians to live out their faith-informed commitments to creation care and climate action through her work on the boards of A Rocha USA and Tearfund USA, and as a founder of and senior advisor for the Young Evangelicals for Climate Action. Moerman has testified before Congress and has appeared on major media outlets, including the NBC TODAY Show, Good Morning America, and the Christian Broadcasting Network. Lamb is a founder of and senior advisor for the Young Evangelicals for Climate Action.

“How we engage the controversial and difficult issues in our polarized society greatly affects how people hear the gospel,” said Denver Seminary President Dr. Mark Young. “The Gospel Initiative at Denver Seminary exists to help God’s people engage those issues in a way that enhances the credibility of our gospel witness.”

Participants can register to attend the conference in-person at Denver Seminary, 6399 S. Santa Fe Dr., Littleton, 80120, or via livestream. The cost to attend in person is $35; livestream is $20. Registration and additional information are online at DenverSeminary.edu/TGI.
