School Counseling Education FAQs
Denver Seminary is one of the only schools in Colorado to offer a certificate program in School Counseling. This certificate is aimed at licensed counselors who already hold a master’s degree in clinical counseling, who want to become a licensed school counselor and work in a school setting. For those who have already been in the counseling field, this certificate provides an avenue to becoming a licensed school counselor without returning for another full master’s degree.
To practice as a professional counselor in the state of Colorado, you must complete all of the graduate degree education requirements, as well as the licensure requirements. A certificate does not fulfill the academic requirements to become a clinical mental health counselor; it is for those who are already credentialed to practice counseling. If you are interested in learning more about the educational requirements for becoming a licensed counseling professional and learning more about requirements for licensure, visit our Counseling department. Our admissions team is ready to discuss educational requirements, semester hours, and licensing requirements, as well as to connect you to those who can answer additional questions as you explore the counseling profession, our internship experience, and more.
You can earn this certificate fully online or on the Denver Seminary campus.
