Application Process
If you have previously been a student at Denver Seminary and would like to return to finish a degree or start a new one, here are the steps and admissions requirements.
Here’s what we’ll need from you:
The biographical questionnaire only needs to be completed once and contains all the information for us to start an application for you. Once you hit submit, the admissions team will start compiling your application documents and a designated admissions counselor will stay in touch with you about what we still need from you. You will choose your desired campus, program, and start term in this step.
We’ll need you to give us an update on what has happened in your life since you last attended Denver Seminary. You could share any major life changes, growths, experiences, or challenges and how they have impacted you. You’ll be provided with three reentry prompts when you begin your application.
Submit one pastoral reference (a Christian leader who has known you over one year and is not related to you) and one general reference (anyone else in your life who has known you over one year and is not related to you). Denver Seminary professors count for both reference types.
Submit official transcripts from any institution where you’ve completed a degree since attending Denver Seminary.
Note: Master of Theology (ThM) applicants must submit one academic reference in lieu of the general reference.
Doctor of Ministry: Submit a resume of your educational and professional experience.
Master of Theology (ThM): Submit an academic writing sample.
Denver Seminary requires a criminal background check for any applicants seeking admission into the following programs:
- Master of Divinity (Chaplaincy concentration only)
- Master of Arts in Counseling
- Graduate Certificate in Professional Chaplaincy
- Graduate Certificate in School Counseling
Admissions Requirements
- The Master of Arts in Counseling, Theology, New Testament, and Old Testament and the Master of Theology require a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- All other programs require a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Don’t meet this requirement?
Email connect@denverseminary.edu to talk through your options for supplementing your GPA.
Completion of the admissions application by the start of your desired start term.
Denver Seminary is a religious organization that trains ministers and those who serve the Church within the context of a faith community. As such, our shared beliefs and standards within the faith community are as important as our academic training. Recognizing this, we require all applicants to certify that they have read, understand, and personally adhere to the shared beliefs as stated in the NAE Statement of Faith. Further, we require that all applicants certify that they have read, understand and agree to abide by the expectations and policies as outlined in the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments, Academic Catalog and Student Handbook.
