Scholarship Application

Scholarship Application

Welcome to the 2020-21 scholarship application which covers fall 2020 and spring 2021. Completed applications are reviewed in April, May and July (for fall) and November (for spring). Before starting the application, below are some brief–but important–directions. Please read these directions before moving on!

The fall scholarship early application deadline is March 1.
The spring scholarship early application deadline is November 1.
For other important dates, please see this page.

How the scholarship application works

  1. The application contains three pages of short and long answer questions about you, your achievements, and your future goals.
  2. There is only one general application – you do not need to submit a separate application for each different scholarship you’re interested in (only exception is the Presidential, Kingdom, and Engaging Hope Scholarships).

***Please note that for the 2020-21 year moving forward, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is no longer needed to apply for Scholarships. Only complete a FAFSA if you wish to receive loans or Work Study***

Committee Meetings

The Scholarship committee will fit each student into all possible scholarships that the student qualifies for based on the answers provided on the application and additional information from our system (your GPA, program, academic progress, etc). Each student is then ranked for that scholarship based on the requirements of the specific scholarship and compared to the other students that also qualify for that scholarship. The highest ranked student will be selected for the scholarship. If there is a tie then the quality of the essays will be reviewed and the best written essay will be selected. When there are scholarships that have more than 1 award, they will be awarded to the top applicants based on the amount of awards we have to give. A majority vote will confirm the students selected for the scholarship.

Results

If you are awarded a scholarship, you are notified via email by the end of the month during which applications are reviewed (April, May, July, November). Offered awards are posted on the online student portal at my.densem.edu. Applications of those who do not receive a scholarship offer will remain active for each subsequent monthly Scholarship Committee meetings until all scholarships have been given out. We will NOT send out notification when all scholarships have been exhausted.
