Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The clinical mental health concentration will prepare students for effective counseling practice and licensure in diverse clinical, educational, and ministry settings. The MA in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) degree program provides solid clinical instruction along with sound biblical training.
Our onsite clinic—Denver Counseling Center—has supervision to facilitate the licensure process and we are connected with over 150 local clinics for internships experience. You will gain relevant practical experience as you pursue your degree in the counseling field.
This program is CACREP accredited and prepares students for counseling licensure in the state of Colorado as well as for the National Counselor Exam (NCE). Additionally, students in this program take part in our Personal Formation Program as they grow during their time at Denver Seminary.

The MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program, the MA in School Counseling, and the MA CMHC/School Counseling Dual degrees have been designed to meet the licensure/certification requirements in Colorado as well as preparing students for licensure exams. The licensure boards in each state are responsible for establishing the requirements for licensure/certification for their state. Students who intend to return or move to any state other than Colorado need to review the professional licensure disclosures pertaining to their program and consult with the state professional licensing board.
Denver Seminary’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program was the first CACREP accredited seminary program. According to CACREP, it is an important accreditation because it advances/enhances the profession of counseling by providing an “assurance of a quality educational program that prepares Professional Counselors”.
